Many concussions are overlooked. The Abbott survey determined that 90% of adults with a concussion wouldn’t seek medical attention.  Another study showed that 65% of athletes with a concussion wouldn’t report it.

Another concussion expert states that the number of unreported concussion will never be known-because they are unreported.

Even those that seek medical attention are overlooked and misdiagnosed.  One study reports that 86% of concussion cases are not diagnosed in the emergency room.

Another study reports that even many of those that are properly diagnosed are sent home with false information that “Don’t worry.  They will go away on their own.

Proper treatment can be very helpful. But without recognition/diagnosis, many concussions victims never get that treatment

Many concussion victims drop out of treatment and are lost to medical care.
